      Penhaligon's Beauty
Luxury London-based British perfumer Penhaligon has been proudly representing its country through fragrances since 1870. The story of the British brand began when William Penhaligon left his native Cornouailles for London. He opened a hair salon with an associate, Jeavons, near Piccadilly. Inspired by the scents of the Turkish baths of the neighbourhood, William Penhaligon decided to create his first perfume in 1872, baptised Hammam Bouquet. He saw immediate success, becoming the official hairstylist and perfumer to the Royal Court and the Queen Alexandra. The aristocracy of the time only had eyes for Penhaligon's perfumes. Upon William's death, his son Walter took the reins of the company. Having grown up in the world of perfume, Walter had a strong penchant for perfumery. His renown was cemented in 1902 when the Duke of Marlborough ordered a custom fragrance. Walter switched directions from the floral scents fashionable at the time and composed a perfume that was fresh and citrus-y. Named Bleinheim Bouquet, the perfume was a success and remains a best-seller to this day. Today, several perfumers work on creating eaux de cologne and perfumes with prestigious ingredients from around the world. Between audacity, modernity and tradition, Penhaligon's perfumes pay homage to the world's natural treasures, to its bustling cities, and to the beauty that surrounds us. They are extraordinary journeys in time and space.
