Oakley Men
Oakley may be one of the uncontested leaders of sporty eyewear today, but this California brand began humbly. With creativity and $300 in his pocket, Jim Jannard got started in 1975 in his garage with his dog Oakley. He began with the manufacture of handlebar grips for two-wheelers, offering, thanks to a new material, a comfortable and adherent grip. Realising that this could also work for glasses frames, he went into eyewear in 1984, and from then on, the brand assumed its role as pioneer in terms of technicality and performance. Well-known athletes and cyclists contributed to the growth of Oakley by wearing the famous O-Frame, a innovative pair whose cylindrical lens now serves as logo, or the Eyeshades, an even lighter and more precise pair. Ensuring that innovation was always at the heart of Oakley's philosophy, the brand diversified in the 90s and started to sell sunglasses and eyeglasses to the general public, and some of those models have become iconic. Today, Oakley has over 600 patents. Without ever sacrificing style, the Californian eyewear manufacturer remains focussed on technology. Among other innovations, we think of the OO Red Iridium Polarized lenses, which can absorb almost all asphalt reflections; the super Plutonite solid lenses that can withstand falls; or Prizm technology, which, thanks to its revolutionary filter, provides clear, detailed vision even against snow. Equally ideal for the most demanding riders, skiers, snowboarders, city dwellers and vacationers, Oakley glasses are a no-brainer.
