Marni Women

Bright colours, playing with layering and fun prints...Marni's eccentric elegance has been redefining Italian femininity for over twenty-five years. The story began in 1994 when Consuelo Castiglioni and her husband Gianni, the heir to his family's fur business, decided to launch a line of Ready-to-Wear clothing to refresh the brand's image that had lost its way in the industry. Named Marni as a tribute to Consuelo's sister, Marina, the brand has acquired an offbeat and alternative identity throughout the seasons. Right up to her departure in 2016, the Creative Director injected the Marni Men, Women and Accessories collections with her own graphic, colourful and arty style. Her successor, Francesco Risso, has followed in the founder's footsteps by offering minimalist creations with vibrant colours, distinctive floral prints and psychedelic designs, evoking a carefree '70s vibe. Born in Sardinia, raised in Genoa, Risso studied at Polimoda (Florence) before continuing his education at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and then Central Saint Martins in London. After his initial experience gained with Bluemarine, Alessandro Dell'Acqua and Malo, he joined Prada's teams in 2008 to work on the Women's collections.
