      L'artisan Parfumeur Beauty
Pioneer of niche perfumery, Jean Laporte founded l'Artisan Parfumeur in 1976 in Paris. Chemical engineer by training, he discovered his vocation when one of his friends contacted him to create a banana perfume to pair with his costume for a ball at the Folies Bergères. It was a chance for this young creative to pursue this direction, creating fragrances featuring grapefruit and vanilla. He then opened his first boutique, equipping it with a lab in which he could compose original scents, with formulas made from natural ingredients. A collector of plants, he took inspiration from the beauty of nature to create unexpected, artisanal blends which led to perfumes unlike any others. Released in 1978, Mûre et Musc earned L'Artisan Parfumeur entry into the pantheon of perfumery and still remains the unstoppable best-seller of the brand. Faced with international success, Jean surrounded himself with some of the best noses to grow his collection. These collaborators, perfectly mastering the harmony and structure of the notes as well as their subtle evolution on the skin, expanded the line with new fragrances in four categories: fresh, floral, oriental and woody. In Rose Opulente, jasmine and tuberose meet celery, bay leaf and geranium, underscoring the bold character of the brand. Each of the label's signature fragrances comes in a luxurious heptagonal bottle evoking a modern, minimalist aesthetic while still echoing the brand's origins. Since 2015, the brand is owned by the Puig group and has enjoyed a second wind.
