Vaquera Women
New York City, 2013: Four talented designers, Patric DiCaprio, Claire Sullivan, Bryn Taubensee and David Moses meet and decide to create Vaquera, a high-end unisex fashion label. Their limitless creativity led to a life-changing collaboration. In the heart of the Big Apple, the four talented designers became known for their unique visual and stylistic identity: a magical, almost mystical universe, with collections inspired by fan fiction and the world of dreams. Vaquera created, without intending to, a new dimension in the world of fashion. Aiming to redefine the codes of luxury fashion, Vaquera started taking inspiration from Dadaism, an early 20th-century artistic movement which broke with all kinds of conventions to construct its own rules and norms. For the four designers, it was make or break. Happily, their story saw success. In 2017, Vaquera was one of the ten finalists for the CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund awards, which recognises the top fashion talent of the future, organised by American Vogue editor Anna Wintour. In February 2022, their dream came true: Vaquera had its first runway debut at Paris Fashion Week. In the same year, the brand launched a major ad campaign in New York with nude models. They also started an Instagram challenge, the #VaqueraButtChallenge, daring users to take photos of themselves in front of the campaign posters. In terms of collabs, Vaquera is second to none. In June 2017, the brand partnered with the Hulu-produced series The Handmaid's Tale, organising a runway show in partnership with the Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York. And in 2020, Vaquera signed its first collab with the French branch of English streetwear group Dover Street Market. Since its launch, the brand has stood out for its gender-fluid pieces with a DIY spirit. Vaquera is also known for its oversized cuts and transparent fabrics, as well as high-end leather, chain details and iconic faux-fur items.
