Burberry loves Printemps
Since he joined Burberry in 2018 as Creative Director, Italian designer Riccardo Tisci immersed himself in the house's archives to grasp the characteristics of its DNA, such as the beige color and the trench coat. He laid the foundations of the brand's new identity through his first two collections blending classicism and streetwear, all while launching a new monogram inspired by the archives and imagined in partnership with the designer Peter Saville. During his third fashion show, presented last September at London Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2020, Tisci began to infuse his personal references, combining them with the house's rich heritage, more than one hundred and sixty years in the making.
"We are very pleased to launch this exclusive collaboration with Printemps, bringing our Spring-Summer 2020 collection to life through an installation offering a unique, creative and impactful experience."
We can clearly see that the hundred or so silhouettes displayed in his spring-summer 2020 fashion show, carry different elements of his aesthetics. Animal motifs are now at the heart of the new and exclusive collaboration between Burberry, le Printemps and Printemps.com, which will run until March 22nd.
Called "Burberry Loves Printemps", the pop-up will debut in the atrium of Printemps Haussmann and present the men's and women's pieces of the collection designed by Riccardo Tisci for next summer. All eleven windows displays of the department store will pay tribute to the animal kingdom; references developed by the Fashion House and one of the major themes of its summer 2020 collection - a symbol dear to its founder Thomas Burberry. Visitors of the Boulevard Haussmann will have the chance to admire - lions, rabbits, gorillas and birds - beautifully occupying the space.
Completely redesigned, the atrium boasts a carpet with the new Burberry "TB" logo, as well as a decoration of mirrors and black-and-white watercolor prints. A singular scenography that celebrates the highly recognizable two colors of Burberry and Printemps: beige and pink.
"We are very pleased to launch this exclusive collaboration with Le Printemps, bringing our Spring-Summer 2020 collection to life through an installation offering a unique, creative and impactful experience. We have worked closely with Le Printemps to celebrate Burberry's rich heritage while introducing the house's iconic new codes and signature pieces. We look forward to showcasing our new collection to the public through an immersive experience in the world of Burberry," said Marco Gentile, Brand President for Europe, Middle East, India and Africa.
Entitled "Evolution", the Spring-Summer 2020 collection is now available. The TB bag and its quilted Lola iteration, the new highlights of the Burberry accessories line designed by Riccardo Tisci, will be available alongside the iconic trench coats, versatile hooded sweatshirts and rugby polo shirts with zippers, technical fabric parkas and T-shirts with the Burberry Horseferry House logo or animal prints.
So many elements that reinforce the "new visual language" put forward by Riccardo Tisci, to be discovered in the new customized space at Printemps Haussmann as well as on the Printemps.com website, perfectly coinciding with the reveal of his next collection for autumn-winter 2020-2021 in London.
