In an era that prizes unique, personal style, creating a brand that specializes in uniforms may seem like an odd move. And yet, it was a bet that Mathilde Gindre and Sarah Nimir took wholeheartedly after meeting at VTC's marketing department in 2017. A year later, the duo founded their clothing label, salut beauté, based on one simple idea: bringing the suit and its everyday practicality back into the present day. The goal was to offer women clothes that they felt good about wearing, and that wouldn't be a headache to pick out every morning. Inspired by traditional uniforms, these two business school graduates have shaped a wardrobe in their image: bubbly and bursting with color. Learning as they went, today they're the masterminds behind elegant, feminine pieces that hold a special place in their proverbial hearts for the environment. The secret weapon? Upcycling. In other words, new pieces are made from excess materials, collected form other French brands and manufacturers. What's more, new articles added to the catalog are made-to-order, allowing the designers to adjust details piece-by-piece and ensuring that nothing unnecessary is produced. Loved by stylists and a growing list of celebrities (singer Angèle even sported one of their suits on stage), these two contemporary creatives are amongst the rising stars in today's feminist and environmentally-engaged fashion industry.
