Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle celebrates the iconic Carnal Flower fragrance with this new limited edition winter design. The fragrance: Nature comes up with some wonderful olfactory surprises, and tuberose is probably the best example. Its almost carnal fragrance miraculously layers over a botanical freshness, camphor, spicy and animal strength with milky sweetness. This mysterious balance has fascinated for as long as perfumery has existed. Eighteen months of work were necessary for Dominique Ropion to create a very contemporary interpretation of this legendary theme of perfumery. An “olfactory Everest”. The perfumer: Dominique Ropion trained at Roure Bertrand Dupont in Grasse, before moving to Paris to join Jean-Louis Sieuzac, one of the world’s leading fragrance technicians. Now a star perfumer at IFF, his work is characterised by a combination of both precision and freedom, and a love of taking risks and experimenting. Inquisitive about everything, like a watchmaker, he is a perfectionist, methodically, patiently and meticulously crafting his accords. Dominique Ropion delights in combining extremes to find new harmonies and surprising expressions. He is an adventurous yet instinctive and highly rigorous formulator, and an exceptionally imaginative individual with outstanding technical skills.
