Fashion and reality TV sometimes go perfectly hand in hand. The proof is Yoon Choon Ho, the Seoul-based designer who took classes at the most prestigious schools before making a name for himself on the small screen. After having studied fine art, Yoon (who was always encouraged by his parents to express his artistic side) turned to fashion. He took a course in a Korean school before travelling to Milan to join the Istituto Marangoni, where he is still one of its ambassadors. In 2006, he received his MA in fashion design and started to rise to fame in his native South Korea by starring in several fashion-related reality TV programmes.
He was a contestant in Project Runway Korea (its US counterpart featured Michael Kors as a judge for several seasons, followed by Zac Posen), as well as New Sold Out. His creations were a hit every time. After having worked for various brands such as Lie Sang Bong and Arche, while also presenting his own work at the Who's Next Trade Show in Paris and at COTERIE in New York, Yoon founded his label YCH in 2016. His label's name (taken from his initials) spread quickly, due to his many collaborations. Yoon Choon Ho is now in demand and is known to design costumes for several K-pop groups, from BTS to Exo.
