Sometimes the destinies of two prestigious houses intertwine. This is certainly the case for Cire Trudon and Carrière Frères. While the former is renowned throughout the world for designing candles made from beeswax, which won it favour in the Court of Versailles, the latter is somewhat more discreet, yet just as prestigious. Founded in 1884 by the Carrière brothers, Carrière Frères produces candles in the same factory as its sister company, Cire Trudon. At a time when electricity started to appear, the Carrière brothers had an illuminating idea: to make candles a decorative item as much as a useful object and, more importantly, to move away from their traditional ceremonial role. Employing the skills of master wax workers, the duo reformed their techniques and presented new designs which earned them a gold medal at the 1889 World's Fair. To this day, Carrière Frères continues to pay meticulous attention to every detail.
