And this has been the case for over ten years. Several years after the Spice Girls' parted ways Victoria Beckham devoted herself to her lifelong passion for fashion. "I took a slight detour via pop music, but it's fashion that excites me", she confided. Already demonstrating a pronounced taste for 'chic' fashion (hence her nickname 'Posh') based on black strapless dresses, patent stilettos along with working-girl pencil skirts, she launched her namesake brand in 2007. Inspired by her mentor Roland Mouret, she unveiled her first collection during New York Fashion Week. The collection was made up of figure-hugging dresses and tailored suits. Once the foundations of her empire were laid, the aspiring stylist continued to refine her look until fashion critics, drawn by her increasingly assertive identity, forced her to adjust her concepts. Nevertheless, the brand's initial DNA prevailed, and the Creative Director gained confidence, as did her collections. She now introduces daring oversize dresses and flat shoes offering pieces with less defined and more minimalist lines.
