Michaela Buerger Women

After graduating from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Michaela Buerger launched her eponymous brand in 2010. Having grown up in a small village in southern Austria, in the midst of folkloric traditions and prints, she made it her mission to apply craftsmanship in the luxury market. Passionate about knitting, which she learned how to do at age four, and inspired by the alpine landscape, she designs pieces that reinterpret the characteristics of "Tracht", traditional Austrian garments recognisable by their shapes, colours and specific details. Her production is confined to local communities of women living in Eastern Europe. In their ateliers, the women handknit virgin wool sourced from a small French producer. The results? Serious, contemporary and poetic pieces, as precious as jewellery.
