Branding isn't always an easy endeavor: using your own name, that of a loved one or simply a word with lots of meaning? Marie-Christine Statz opted for the nickname given by one of her professors at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Born in Germany, this former economics student at the University of Bonn switched to arts halfway through her studies when she realized she was no longer interested in numbers. After training at Parson's New School of Design in New York, she honed her skills at Narciso Rodriguez and Diane von Furstenberg. Armed with these new experiences, she returned to Paris in 2010, where she studied Haute Couture at the École de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. Three years later, she launched her brand and presented her first Spring-Summer 2013 collection at the Paris Fashion Week. Acclaimed by both the public and the critics, she was two years in a row (in 2014 and 2015) on the list of finalists for the ANDAM Prize. Made in Paris by the capital's best craftspeople, Gauchère pieces combine high quality materials, modern cuts, avant-garde and traditional techniques for a contemporary and feminine wardrobe.
