Fascinated by the liberated 19th century Paris and the cultural wealth of the Second Empire, Laura Gauthier Petit launched Fête Impériale in 2015. After working between Paris and London in digital marketing and strategy, the designer devoted herself to her label, which she named in the blink of an eye, in homage to Napoleon III and the Empress Eugenie. A fashion brand for women, revamping designs from the Belle Époque with references to the decadence of the '80s. When the wealth and splendour of the past meets the casual cool of the punk movement. "Inspiration can be found at any moment... a memory, an exhibition, a journey, a person... the common thread is often about creating fantasy worlds", said Laura Gauthier Petit. She was also inspired by independent women in her entourage who, despite a difficult start in life, succeeded all on her own, just as her grandmother did. The brand's signature elements: Ethical materials, "Made in France" and specifically, Made in Paris, blended designs and lavish motifs. Indeed, at Fête Impériale, cuts are flowing, androgynous and sometimes oversized, with the idea of making women feel confident in everyday life. All materials are carefully selected, inspired by 19th century furnishing fabrics including duchess satin, French silk, cotton velvet and silk velvet. The unique prints used for each collection are considered, designed and produced by an artist aligned with the essence of Fête Impériale. Transformed into 'works of art', skirts, blouses and jumpsuits are embellished with bird cages, waterfalls and hanging gardens, immersing us into an enchanted world.
