Barbour is a British brand, steeped in history and renowned for its durable pieces, emblematic of country chic. It was founded in 1894 by John Barbour, who opened his first store in South Shields (England) the same year. Family-owned (and still run by the founder's direct heirs), it quickly gained recognition for its waterproof and functional outerwear. A favorite of bikers since 1936, the brand also dressed members of the country's submarine services during the Second World War. Moreover, in 1974, it obtained its first royal appointment, given by the Duke of Edinburgh, followed in 1982 and 1987 by those of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. The Beaufort jacket was introduced in 1983, made of oiled canvas and lined with the iconic Barbour family tartan. Handcrafted, like all of the label's jackets in the Simonside factory established in 1981, It is till this day one of the greatest classics of the British house. While the brand is anchored in its heritage, it is continuously looking towards the future by presenting modern designs at London Fashion Week, collaborating with Alexa Chung in 2019, and most notably dressing James Bond in a Beacon jacket in "Skyfall".
