Dion Lee

Completely unknown to the rest of the world twenty years ago, Australian fashion has been rising to the top of the international scene over the past decade. Leading this revival from down under is Aussie designer Dion Lee, who is slowly but surely gaining a dominant position in the fashion world. Following his studies in acting and at the Sydney Institute of Technology, the Sydney native launched his self-named brand at the age of 23. Fascinated by the manufacturing of clothing that he paired with traditional tailoring, Dion Lee provided a truly unique aesthetic, both feminine and avant-garde, making him one of the up-and-coming designers to follow. In 2012, he gained recognition by becoming an Australian finalist for the Woolmark Prize, winning a grant and a mentorship. Often working with wool (an important natural resource in Australia), he still collaborates with Woolmark on a regular basis to work with the best providers in a clear supply chain. Following shows in London, Dion Lee presented collections in New York from Spring-Summer 2014. The move increased his popularity, making him one of the most famous Australian designers in recent years.
